Melbourne Car Keys repairs, clones and programs BMW and MINI electronics by mail-in, anywhere in Australia. Whether you have an engine ECU (DME) fault, need a key programmed or a spare cut, or have a failed body or immobiliser module, post the unit to us and we repair or program it on the bench and send it straight back, ready to fit. No dealer trip — and you only pay once the job is done.
BMW Engine ECU (DME) Repair & Cloning
We repair and clone BMW engine ECUs (petrol DME and diesel DDE) on the bench. Common jobs include N54 MSD80/MSD81 misfire and 30BA faults, M54 MS43/MS42 failures, water-damaged units, and bricked ECUs after a failed write. We also handle DME cloning to a replacement unit, ISN reading for key and immobiliser work, and bench unlocking. Your keys and immobiliser keep working — most jobs are plug-and-play with no online programming.

BMW Key Programming & Immobiliser
We program BMW and MINI keys across every immobiliser generation — EWS, CAS2/CAS3, CAS4, and FEM/BDC/BDC2 — for both spare keys (add key) and all keys lost. For all-keys-lost jobs we read the immobiliser module on the bench, so you will post in the relevant module (CAS/FEM/BDC) and, on some models, the driver’s door lock barrel. We supply and program genuine BMW keys where required.

BMW Module Cloning & Recovery
Beyond keys and engine ECUs, we clone and recover BMW body and immobiliser modules: FRM footwell module cloning (the common cause of lighting and window faults after a battery or jump-start event), FEM/BDC cloning, instrument cluster (KOMBI) virginising and coding, and CAS3+ bricked module recovery after an ISTA-P failure. Cloned modules are returned plug-and-play.

How the mail-in service works
- Request a repair and tell us your model, year, VIN and the fault or service you need.
- We confirm which module to send — and whether an all-keys-lost job needs your driver’s door lock barrel.
- Post your unit to us with your order number.
- We repair, clone or program it on the bench, bench-test it, and return it by express post Australia-wide — fit it and drive.
Why mail-in
No dealer programming fees, no need to bring the car anywhere, and you only pay once the work is done. Turnaround is within 7 days of us receiving your unit, with express return post Australia-wide. If we can’t complete the job, you don’t pay — no fix, no charge.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know which BMW immobiliser system my car has — EWS, CAS, FEM or BDC?
It depends on the model and year. EWS is on older E-series, CAS2/CAS3 on mid-2000s models, CAS4 on later E and F-series, and FEM/BDC and BDC2 on F and G-series. Tell us your model, year and VIN when you request a repair and we’ll confirm the system and exactly what to send.
What’s the difference between a spare key and all keys lost?
A spare key (add key) is programming an extra key when you still have a working one. All keys lost means no working key remains, which requires the immobiliser module read on the bench — for that we’ll ask you to post the relevant module (CAS/FEM/BDC) and, on some models, the driver’s door lock barrel.
Can a BMW N54 MSD80/MSD81 DME with misfires or a 30BA fault be repaired?
Yes. The common N54 MSD80/MSD81 misfire and 30BA faults are a known board-level failure we repair on the bench rather than replacing the whole DME. Post it in and we test and repair it.
What is BMW DME cloning, and will my keys still work?
DME cloning copies your original engine data — including the ISN and immobiliser pairing — onto a replacement DME, so your existing keys and CAS/FEM keep working with no online programming required.
What is the BMW FRM footwell module fault?
A failed FRM (footwell module) commonly causes lighting, indicator and window faults after a battery change or jump-start. We clone the FRM data to a working unit so it’s plug-and-play, with no coding required.
How long does the mail-in service take?
Turnaround is within 7 days of us receiving your unit, returned by express post Australia-wide. No fix, no charge.
